Yes I did it, here's a nail design with a Christmas tree! :-)
Christmas is almost there and I couldn’t resist doing a christmas nail design. As said before I didn’t want to paint a Christmas tree on my nails because I think that’s too obvious. But then it might be too obvious not to do it. And because one of my favourite OPI polishes just screams Christmas, I decided to just go for it. But I like it real simple. I’m not a fan of whole drawings and paintings on my nails. That’s why I chose to polish the tree on only one finger on each hand, my ring finger. I don’t know why but I always seem to pick this finger to add something extra. The tree is going to be a little abstract too.
So the polish that I like so much, especially for Christmas, has the best fitting name ever. It’s called ‘Red fingers & mistletoes’ and it’s from OPI. I didn’t pick a green polish for the tree, because it wouldn’t match the red color used for the other nails. At first I wanted to use a gold polish for the tree, but then I noticed that I might use gold way to often on my nails. I chose silver instead because it fits Christmas too and I don’t get to use this color often. The silver used for this design is from Artdeco, nr 135.
For this design I just started painting all my nails with the very pretty red polish. Because striper tape is used I’ve let it dry just a little longer than normal, just to be sure the tape doesn’t pull off the polish. When dry I applied the tape, this might be the trickiest part because the tape is so tiny. First I taped two pieces like a triangle for the tree. Then I horizontally taped pieces close together to make the horizontal lines in the tree. I applied the silver polish between the taped pieces and then quickly removed the tape before the polish was dry. When dry I added a top coat and added a few golden glitters on the tree. I didn’t use much glitters, to be exact it were nine glitters, I added them with a toothpick to the tree like Christmas ornaments.
